– Apprenticeship Program with Sweet Medicine Nation

These legacy teachings are for those committed to learning and serious about wishing to make a difference in their lives and those of others.

This is a two-year program that explores Indigenous Wisdom Way teachings and ceremonies. The classes are divided into four parts that build on each other every six months. At the end of the two years, there will be a gathering and initiation. Mentorship to focus on Medicine Trainings.

Offerings

– Songs and Drumming Circle

In person or on Zoom.
These traditional songs are shared with deep respect and reverence for our Elders who carry this echo of the Old Ones.   They are used by Pledges ( those committing to walk to the Mountain and do their VQ or our monthly sweat lodges.   If you wish to learn the songs and their meanings this is your chance.
All ages welcome.
Dates: March 6th 6:30  Sacred Songs Class begins – meeting ever other week
Contribution: $160. ( 6 classes, words and Drumbeats)

– Drummaking Workshop

We will create these Sacred Instruments for personal or ceremonial use by placing prayer and ritual to place our heart prayer within and awake & awaken them to send the echo of the heart beat with the frequency of the animal our skin ( drum head ) is constructed from !   This daylong event and supplies will be provided.

Lodges are usually held the third Saturday of the month—there is some variation, so please check for an email reminder or check the Four Winds Community Foundation Facebook page. We post lodge dates & other Events there. Mark your calendars. All ages welcome

The ceremony starts with the lighting of the fire at 10AM. You can come pray and learn to build the fire. We go into the lodge at 12 noon.

Just a few reminders:

  • Women on their menstrual moon time are asked to stay home to honor that ceremony
  • Bring lodge clothes (shorts for men and long dresses or long skirt and T-shirt for women), water to drink before and after lodge, towels (can bring one in the lodge and may want an extra one for after lodge)
  • Suggested donation of $20 for fire wood, maintenance of lodge, & travel of our elder

We will have a potluck and talk circle after the lodge, so please bring a healthy potluck dish.

Vision Quest Camp

Teaching on this Ceremony and what it means, takes and requires to participate in this Rite of Passage in today’s world.  All welcome.   There will be a  set of classes for those who pledge/ commit to begin their walk towards the Mountain and Vision Quest.
