Lodges are usually held the third Saturday of the month—there is some variation, so please check for an email reminder or the Four Winds Community Foundation Facebook page where we post lodge dates. Mark your calendars.

The ceremony starts with the lighting of the fire at 10AM. You can come pray and learn to build the fire. We go into the lodge at 12 noon.

Just a few reminders:

  • Women on their menstrual moon time are asked to stay home to honor that ceremony
  • Bring lodge clothes (shorts for men and long dresses or long skirt and T-shirt for women), water to drink before and after lodge, towels (can bring one in the lodge and may want an extra one for after lodge)
  • Suggested donation of $20 for fire wood, maintenance of lodge, & travel of our elder
We’ve been asked about COVID safety around the sweat lodges.  We’re asking people to stay at home if they have any upper respiratory symptoms / cold / cough or are within 10 days of having tested positive for COVID.  During the ceremony, we are no longer passing the pipe for smoking to everyone.  When we pass the water to drink in the middle of the ceremony, we ask people to have the person next to them pour water into their hands rather than drinking directly from the gourd.  We are not asking about vaccination status as we feel that is a personal matter.  Fully vaccinated and boosted people can still contract and spread the virus.  We are encouraged that COVID is mutating into weaker strains as this is most likely a sign that the pandemic is close to running its course.  If you have compromised health and/or are nervous about contracting COVID or live with someone who is especially at risk, you may want to stay home.

We will have a potluck and talk circle after the lodge, so please bring a healthy potluck dish.
